Next week, Rosy and I are planning to do some groceries and prepare our own bentou boxes! We got inspiration from the numerous bentou designs in
Just Bento.com and in Facebook. (Her friend got tagged in a collection of bentou pictures).
We realized that what made Japanese bentou interesting was because there's always a balance between the viand, the rice, and the vegetable or fruit in the small box. There were outrageous designs that imitated Hello Kitty (in green), Super Mario, Bart of the Simpsons and even a school bus with scrambled tamago!
All the ingredients are neatly placed in the bentou and are arranged in a sumptuous and attractive way. I bet the kiddies had fun eating their lunches because of all the preparations.
I concluded that this is Japanese mothers' creative way of making their children eat a balanced meal. Haha. And so, Rosy and I are going to try our own bento boxes next week! Can't wait to see what we'll come out with. :)
Rosy said: Nihon no tabeono wa totemo oishii desu!
I can only say: Itadakimasu!
