This narcissism is actually common if you have a Facebook, Twitter or Instagram account. As my photographer friend used to say in the vernacular: "Pati pagtitinga sinasabi sa iba."
But eye-rolling selfies aside, the social media has become my source of morning (and beyond) news. The speed at which people share and distribute stories on-line is amazing--a fact that in so many ways, redefined journalism and information dissemination.
But let's not go there; its a topic that should be reserved for discussions in schools or with enlightened fellows who understand the medium. The point of this blog really are these two inspiring stories I read in the soc media world this morning:
"Just as writing brings catharsis to writers, photography is a way of feeling liberated." - Indian Project Trains Muslim Women to be Photographers, Defies Fatwa
"Some people can overcome fear and some people can fight fear... I thought that words and books and pens are more powerful than guns." - Malala Yousafzai: 'Death Did Not Want to Kill Me'
Indeed, there is a good side to this sharing-oriented world that is social media. :) - 10/8/2013
